Papp László Budapest Sportaréna – Hungary’s Premier Concert Venue

The Papp László Budapest Sportaréna is Hungary’s number-one concert venue, hosting world-famous stars such as Robbie Williams, Shawn Mendes, and 50 Cent.

Scroll down to the Events section to see upcoming concerts!

History

The arena’s journey began on 12th February 1982, with the opening of its predecessor, the Budapest Sports Hall. Designed by Miklós Ybl Award-winning architect István Kiss, the venue had a seating capacity of 12,500.

Over time, it became a cultural and musical hub, featuring performances by legends like Johnny Cash, Elton John, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica.

In December 1999, disaster struck. A candle left burning at a Christmas market caused a devastating fire that destroyed the entire venue except for parts of its reinforced concrete structure.

Faced with the choice to rebuild the old hall or create something entirely new, the latter option prevailed. The new arena opened in March 2003 and was officially named after László Papp in 2004.

Services

There are 16 cloakrooms to ensure a smooth entry process during concerts. A reception desk at the main entrance provides all the information you need about events.

The venue is wheelchair-accessible, with wide corridors and accessible restrooms. It has a total seating capacity of 12,500.

Dining Options

Outside food and drinks are not allowed. However, each level has snack bars offering items such as chocolate, pretzels, chips, and sandwiches. Drinks like soft drinks, mineral water, and beer are also available.
