Aeropark History

The history of Aeropark dates back to 1988 when István Veress and Tamás Erdei announced the establishment of a “museum of aviation.” This idea was realised in 1991 with the opening of the Ferihegy Aircraft Memorial Park.

In 2003, BA Zrt. sold off non-essential operations, including the museum. To preserve the aviation history, it was proposed that the museum continue as a foundation.

The Ferihegy Aircraft Memorial Park Cultural Foundation was registered on June 18, 2004, and began operations on June 26, 2004. In 2014, the operation of the park was taken over by the Aviation Cultural Centre Nonprofit Ltd., which has since operated under the name Aeropark.

In 2017, the park was expanded with a new bus stop, a pedestrian path, and free parking. It also added a new lightweight building, featuring simulators, a café, and a well-equipped gift shop for visitors.
