The Gellért Hill Waterfall is located in Budapest, opposite the Elisabeth Bridge, on the side of Gellért Hill. Above the stunning waterfall, you can find the statue of Saint Gellért. According to legend, Saint Gellért was pushed off the cliff by Hungarian pagans. Visitors can ascend from the base to the top of the waterfall via a truly marvellous staircase, which leads further up to the Citadel. The waterfall is a highly popular destination among tourists, as it offers the opportunity to take breathtaking photos.
Both the waterfall and the surrounding attractions are occasionally adorned with spectacular lights. A great example of this was in 2017 when, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence, the Elisabeth Bridge and the Gellért Hill Waterfall were illuminated in blue and white.
