Budapest Retro Experience Centre

Relive the ’70s and ’80s at the Budapest Retro Experience Centre!
This three-storey, interactive exhibition is a true time capsule featuring a Lada police car, Retro Café, and a complete News Studio, all ready to delight visitors.

Attractions

TV Teddy, pioneer camps, Monchhichi toys, and shiny tracksuits – these words instantly bring back the vibe of the ’70s. These, and many more exciting exhibits, await visitors who spend a few hours at the Budapest Retro Experience Centre. The exhibition goes far beyond most local displays, as guests can immerse themselves in a bygone era using modern interactive tools.

The ground floor recreates a street scene from the Gazdagrét housing estate, where visitors can even hop into a real police Lada. For those more interested in television glamour, the authentic News Studio set is the place to be. Across three levels, you’ll find panel block models, a party leader’s office, period interiors, relics, and even a section dedicated to astronaut Bertalan Farkas.

Dining Options

Enhance the nostalgia by refuelling at the museum’s bistro. A variety of retro delicacies is on offer, including hot dogs, flatbread, pink meringue cakes, and the classic Hungarian zsíros kenyér (bread with lard). There’s also a daily menu to enjoy. The retro atmosphere is complemented by mosaic floors, a vintage jukebox, and stylish bar stools, making the dining experience part of the time travel adventure.

Event Venue

Born from a passion for quality entertainment, the Budapest Retro Experience Centre isn’t just a fantastic family programme but also an exceptional venue for events. Be it a wedding photoshoot, team-building activity, or an unconventional school lesson, it’s hard to find a more unique spot in Budapest for shared experiences.

Getting There

The centre is located next to Erzsébet Square, at 4 Október 6. Street. From Nyugati Railway Station, head towards Deák Ferenc Square via Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, then turn into József Attila Street. It is also accessible by bus and trolleybus: take bus 9, 15, or 115, or trolleybus 72M or 73M from Nyugati Station.
