Andrássy Avenue (út)

Andrássy Avenue was built in 1896 and is often referred to as the “Champs-Élysées of Budapest.” It was constructed to commemorate the Millennium, connecting Heroes’ Square, City Park, and the city center. Since 2002, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage, along with Heroes’ Square and the Millennium Underground Railway running beneath it.

Sections

The 2-kilometer-long Andrássy Avenue is divided into three sections, each differing in length, width, and arrangement.

First Section:
This part connects Deák Ferenc Square and Oktogon. Visitors can find world-famous luxury brands here. The avenue runs between historic palaces, with cafes and shops on the ground floors. Notable landmarks include the Opera House and the Pest Broadway.

Second Section:
This section stretches between Oktogon and Kodály Körönd. The road widens here with service lanes and tree-lined pedestrian walkways, offering a pleasant stroll. The House of Terror Museum is also located on this section.

Third Section:
The final section runs from Kodály Körönd to Heroes’ Square. It is lined with villas similar to those in Rózsadomb and Pasarét. Mainly embassies are located here, but a few cafes can also be found.
