House of Hungarian Music Budapest

A groundbreaking journey into the world of music: The House of Hungarian Music, a multiple award-winning architectural masterpiece in Budapest’s City Park, offers interactive music history exhibitions, fantastic family programmes, and high-quality concerts throughout the year.

About the Building

The House of Hungarian Music was constructed as part of the Liget Budapest Project. Its organic design blends seamlessly with the trees of the City Park, offering a serene escape from the bustling city while keeping you connected with nature.

This unique masterpiece was designed by renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto and was created with the goal of educating and entertaining visitors. If you’re curious to learn more about various music genres or the history of European music, this is the perfect destination.

Structure of the House of Hungarian Music

The Dimensions of Sound – Musical Journeys in Space and Time permanent exhibition spans an impressive 1,000 square metres and offers a two-hour journey into the rich heritage of Hungarian and European music. Don’t miss the Sound Dome, referred to as a musical planetarium, where more than 30 speakers bring the sounds of nature and music to life.

As the name suggests, the Creative Sound Space allows your imagination to take flight. It offers everything needed for a unique musical experience, from a robot organ to games and musical installations.

On the ground floor, you’ll find two indoor spaces designed for live music events and workshops, but that’s not all! From May to September, the outdoor stage next to the building hosts mostly free concerts for visitors.

Access and Parking

The House of Hungarian Music is located in the City Park, just a short walk from Vajdahunyad Castle. Visitors with online tickets can enjoy free parking for the first two hours of their visit in the Museum Underground Garage. Accessible from Dózsa György Road between Damjanich and Dembinszky Streets. Parking tickets must be validated at the information desk inside the House of Hungarian Music.
